I've been growing out my hair for a a couple of years and it has grown quite long. I'm looking to donate it to a charity along the lines of Locks of Love or Wigs for Kids. I know I can get my hair cut anywhere and just mail in my donation, but I'm looking for a salon that mails in the donation for you. After having my hair cut I'd also like to have it styled and possibly colored. I haven't had my hair cut in several years and I've gone crazy trying to look online. So, if anyone knows of someplace in the Sacramento area, any help would be greatly appreciated. Location is not a big deal. I'm willing to travel. Thanks!

I donate my hair too. if you go to http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html there should be information there. I go to greatclips to donate my hair. They mail the hair for you and you get a free hair cut out of it. I don't know if they would do the coloring for free, but I'm sure you could pay for that part.

You might want to check out some of the info in the Longhair Community. I've heard some bad things about Locks of Love.

Well, they are just rumors, but that sometimes instead of donating the hair for wigs they sell the hair instead.

hmm... that sounds familiar actually. I think I read that any hair that they can't use (like it's too short) they sell to offset the costs of making the wigs.

yes, from their website: "Q. Does Locks of Love sell hair?
A. Yes, hair that is short, gray, or otherwise unusable will be sold to help offset manufacturing costs."

There is a lot more about them in the memories of the community. Go take a look at http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=longhair&keyword=Locks+of+Love&filter=all

Hot Shots on Micron (Bradshaw at Highway 50) will not only cut it, they'll style it for free. Call Rosie at (916) 364-7144.

I have grown my hair out for about a year and it has grown past by butt. I went in today to get a hair cut and cut almost 14 inches off my hair and want to know if locks of love will take it colored or not.
